Plant Procurement

As a design and installation firm specializing in biodiverse native plantings, we often specify plants that may not be commercially available. Given our access to nurseries across the state, we procure plants for projects. Plant procurement is billed at 20% of the total cost of plant acquisition.

Installation

Garden installation timing is dependent on site conditions. Usually, fall and spring are the best times to plant, but wet or shady spots can sometimes be more flexible in installation timing. We will recommend the best start-date based on your unique site conditions.
The first day of installation, our team will begin with removing any plants identified for disposal in the final design plan.
Next, we add soil amendments and begin laying out your plants. Final design may be subject to change through this process, subject to site conditions, in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for plant survival and your finished garden design.
Installation is billed at $75/hour per laborer.

Required Maintenance (12 month contract)

Native plant and conservation gardens require a radically different maintenance protocol than what conventional landscapers offer. To give your garden the best chance of success in the first year after installation, Sandhills Native Plants requires that clients allow us to provide garden maintenance services in the first 12 months after installation.

Maintenance

Maintenance services include watering, weeding, necessary pruning, transplanting, fertilization, mulching, and replacement plant installation.
- Replacement plants are billed at 15% of the total cost of acquisition.
Maintenance is billed at a rate of $75 per hour per laborer.

Design Plan

After receiving your feedback on the project proposal, we develop a site plan documenting the existing elements in the landscape.
Next, we begin selecting plants, trim, furnishings, and artistic features for your garden.
Before creating your design, a minimum $2,000 deposit is required, contingent on the size of your project. In the event that design fees are less than $2,000, the remaining funds will be applied toward installation costs.

Final Design Presentation

Virtual or In-Person: After finishing your design, we offer a detailed presentation, answer any questions, and talk through your budget and estimated project costs.
We will then discuss whether or not you are interested in moving forward with the project.
A signed project proposal and minimum $2,000 design deposit deposit is due within one week of the design presentation.
Final plans, plant lists, and designs are released upon payment for design services.

Initial Consultation

Together, we will walk your property to discuss your vision, needs, and any areas of concern in your existing landscape.
Our team will document current site conditions in detail, including any existing irrigation/drainage infrastructure, plants, and overall site topography.
Billed at $125/hour, due upon completion of visit. An additional fuel surcharge of $1.35/mile may apply for locations over 35 miles from our location.

Project Proposal

We will create a site analysis and summary of our consultation, including your landscape design goals. Next, we develop a project proposal, detailing the project scope, fees, and deliverables.
Once you’ve received and read these documents, we can answer any questions before beginning the design phase. As soon as we’ve received a signed proposal and service agreement, we can begin the research and design phase of your project.
